So kids and dogs go together right? Well, only if those kids know how to behave around a dog. Sudden movement, noises, and tight hugs can startle a dog and cause him to bite. Small children need to learn to approach dogs calmly, and also to walk away calmly if the dog growls. Adults need to teach children never to pet a dog unless they are given permission by the dog's owner. Teaching children the right way to act around a dog will prevent the majority of dog bites.
