New Kitten and our Newfie/Lab

We have a new kitten and our almost-80 pound Newfie/Lab is so sweet to her. They even sniifed noses when Sydney was in the middle of eating her dinner! The two cats in the house growl at the poor little kitten. But it's ok, she's tough; she just growls right back! It's pretty amusing, and all very cute!

Well dog people are like that too, I know. So go ahead, show me your cute dog and share your dog adoption story on my site Adopt the Right Dog.

Do you know someone that uses their own time and money to rescue and find homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs? There are lots of them out there and though they do it for love, they should get some special recognition. Plus, they need to get the word out. So lets help them. If you or someone you know has a special dog rescue story write about it on my site.

    Kids and Dogs

So kids and dogs go together right? Well, only if those kids know how to behave around a dog. Sudden movement, noises, and tight hugs can startle a dog and cause him to bite. Small children need to learn to approach dogs calmly, and also to walk away calmly if the dog growls. Adults need to teach children never to pet a dog unless they are given permission by the dog's owner. Teaching children the right way to act around a dog will prevent the majority of dog bites. And this is one of the topics I talk about on my website Adopt the Right Dog.

I have been working on my new website called Adopt-the-Right Dog. It's all about making sure you understand what a big commitment it is to have a dog and to help you choose a dog that fits you and your family's lifestyle.

So many dogs end up at the pound and shelters because people didn't make the right choice. There's nothing that makes me sadder than to see an animal behind a cage without a home, or worse still to know that millions of unwanted pets are euthanized each year. And maybe even worse than that - to see animals mistreated, abused or neglected.

Even if you can't provide a financial donation, you can help by volunteering, fostering a dog on a temporary basis, or very simply just clicking on the right website - Put a clickable button on your own site too! Like this:

I am the mom of two great teenage daughters who are smart, athletic, and beautiful! I have a dog, a Newfie/Lab mix named Sydney who I adore, and a cat named Nicki - she's what I call my snooty of a cutie cat. I love her too! I'm an animal lover and I love the internet - my website is called Adopt the Right Dog - http://adopt-the-right-dog.com
